Lama Earrings with Paua shell inlay
Lama translates to light as in "enlightenment".
Lama is endemic to Hawai'i and grows mostly in the dry land forest. It is in the Ebony family.
Some of our favorite known uses of Lama in Old Hawai'i :
The fruit of the Lama tree is called Pi'oi and was a food source. Also used to build Pupupu hale that were built in a single day during daylight hours. The sick were placed in the Hale to heal.
These earrings are intended to bring clarity and emotional balance. To connect with the shift into winter and the phases of the moon that teach us about winter darkness. And to utilize this time for rest, learning, contemplation, restoration, and reflection.
All of our earrings are handmade from forest to finished product. Every single item is one of a kind.
All of our earrings have sterling silver hooks and jump rings. The Paua shell is from Aotearoa.
