Koai'a Earrings
Koai'a grows on the leeward coast from 150 ft elevation to around 4000ft elevation.
The wood is known for its strength. Cousin to the well known Koa tree. Koai'a is actually harder and stronger than Koa and was used for shark hooks in old Hawai'i because of the strength.
some other uses: Fancy canoe paddles, short(ihe) and long(pololū) spears.
These are a nice smaller full inlay pair.
From forest to workshop using dead trees everything is handmade and truly one of a kind.
All of our earrings have sterling silver findings. And the Paua Shell is from Aotearoa.
